Mission Migrant Workers

As a way to remedy the rapid rising of unemployment in the Philippines, President Ferdinand Marcos signed the Labor code of 1974.  By 1978, the Philippines is rapidly sending filipino workers and recruitment agencies were privatized. It was also the year where hong kong became china’s biggest investor and as a way to answer labour shortage, female migrant workers from the Philippines were steadily hired by the Hong Kong government.

Forced Labor Migration.

A country who is dependent on overseas remittances, regardless of how high its dollar reserves are, is still a country in crisis.  The government has fostered a dependence on Overseas employment that it has focused its effort to send its best people outside of the country, stripping the Philippines of its intellectual and creative assets.
